Nayara Energy Ltd, a refining and oil-marketing company with Rosneft backing, is set to significantly increase its fuel retail presence, particularly in rural areas and along new highways, while simultaneously exploring avenues to expand its compressed natural gas (CNG) business.
Nayara Energy Ltd, supported by Rosneft, is embarking on a strategic expansion of its fuel retail network, focusing on underserved rural regions and emerging highway corridors across India. According to Madhur Taneja, Chief Marketing Officer, the company currently operates a network of 6,500 outlets spanning Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Telangana.
While refraining from specific projections, Taneja alluded to the company's consistent growth trajectory and its intention to capture a substantial share of the expanding market. This expansion will be driven by two key levers: increasing accessibility through new retail outlets and enhancing customer experience at existing locations through technological advancements and innovative service models, including potential 'deliver to home' options.
The company intends to leverage technology to personalize the customer experience. Nayara Energy currently processes over 150 million transactions monthly and aims to harness technology to enhance customer satisfaction.
Nayara Energy is also exploring the potential of CNG. Although currently limited to a few outlets, the company is evaluating the co-location of CNG and petrol refilling stations. Taneja acknowledged potential challenges related to customer profile conflicts, suggesting a cautious approach to CNG expansion.
In line with the government's ethanol blending targets, Nayara Energy is progressing with plans to establish two new ethanol plants in Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, with a combined investment of ₹600 crore. The company has already acquired land for these projects, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable fuel alternatives.
While sustainable aviation fuel remains under consideration, it aligns with Nayara Energy's broader environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy.
